An adventurous Patagonian river guide for half of the year and a traveling singer-songwriter the other half, Jenner Fox has plenty of stories to tell and his album, Taos, is chock full of them. Each song is an intimate journey that brings the listener along for a ride. Fox’s acoustic folk/singer-songwriter style showcases his vivid storytelling, clever lyrics, and bluesy guitar licks. Every track is a brilliant live recording done by Blue Coast Records who has also made the album available in a high resolution format, making Taos every audiophile’s dream.
The stripped back feel of the album allows Fox’s voice and lyrics to shine through. Packed with emotion, Fox’s vocals usually remain soft and thoughtful. However, songs such as “Traveling Song” and “Francine,” feature the strength of Fox’s voice, reminiscent of the raspy shouts of Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers. His intimate and authentic lyrics pair perfectly with the simple acoustic instruments that drive home his down-to-earth style. Alongside seven of his very own compositions, Fox adds his own unique musical flavor to covers of Paul Simon’s “You Can Call Me Al,” Jason Isbell’s “Cover Me Up,” and Town Van Zandt’s “If I Needed You.”
